UNKILLED WORKER MACHINE

Months of planning, blood, sweat and tears have come to an end. Unkilled Worker is BACK, and he’s not alone. Welcome to the UNKILLED WORKER MACHINE.

After a good three years of playing songs from the Faithcollapse era it became pretty clear that change was a matter of time. It was also clear that it was time to get heavier. What wasn’t clear was how to make this happen. Countless hours of thinking, mulling over names, the obvious players from the scene, trying to figure out who would it be possible to ‘click’ with in the way necessary to make the new Unkilled Worker happen?

Approximately midnight, four double whiskeys into a trans-Atlantic flight. 200 or so kilometres off the coast of Greenland the light came on, brought through a distant but real memory: A gig with Unkilled Worker and the Nesbitt’s in a small village near Hradec Kralove. Walking into the hall, first band of the night on stage. Standing next to Yoz with open mouths. Fantastic singer, totally cool guitarists, and a pretty odd looking drummer, bent over the kit, looking mighty pissed off, and sounding that way as well. A complex sort of aggression. ‘That girl is definitely trouble,’ the impression left.

Virtually the moment the plane landed I wrote Katerina, drummer of KALJEKA and asked her if she was to be the future. She said she was indeed the future. At that moment Unkilled Worker Machine was born.

I now know that the hazy flashback on the plane to seeing KALJEKA was a revelation of the highest order. The music of UNKILLED WORKER MACHINE could not be played by anyone else than Kaka. I can instantly name 5 incredible drummers that I have known for years that I admire and respect as players and musicians, but I also know  it simply wouldn’t work. The chemistry of UKWM is, if anything, unique.

What can you expect from the Machine? Expect more direct social engagement, but this time wrapped in a punch drunk, sovereign, and mildly crushing package. If UKW solo was seen as a knife, UKW and the Nesbitt’s as a whip, then UKWM is the wrecking ball. Slow, heavy, destructive. Cleansing power.

See you soon!
